The Technical Project Manager will be accountable to leadership and management in the following areas:

Leadership and Innovation

  • As a senior member of the team, pro-actively contribute to strategic planning and manage execution of the plan within your scope of work.

PV System Design

  • Lead the design process from start to completion.
  • Prepare working drawings (electrical, mechanical) and other technical documents.
  • Provide accurate design calculations for common system sizing routines.
  • Leverage common and specialty computer applications for data collection, analysis, and modelling.
  • Diligently ensure compliance with all permit and municipal planning by-laws and requirements.
  • Identify, source, and manage strong relationships with external design resources as needed.
  • Ensure modern best practices are integrated into all design processes and systems.

Project Management

  • Complete projects on time and on budget by leveraging PM and CRM tools and maintain our solid project implementation reputation.
  • Bridge sales and project implementation through skillful communication; ensure shared project vision and clear project tasks.
  • Manage procurement and inventory levels.
  • Manage budget and time expectations of assigned projects.
  • Assist with quality assurance.
  • Coordinate permits from application to approvals: ESA, Hydro One, Building permits, etc.
  • Liaise with inside and outside stakeholders as needed to achieve project deliverables.
  • Ensure all documentation related to the project is complete and filed.

Team and Client Support

  • Receive and triage technical support requests from staff and clients; ensure a positive and timely outcome.
  • Support new business development; help close new opportunities.
  • Respond to client inquiries and utilize problem-solving skills to achieve positive results for our clients.
  • Supervise and train junior technical staff.
  • Assist the full team in office duties such as responding to general inquiries, answering phones and speaking to clients and prospective clients as well as contributing to the overall office culture and environment.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technologist in a related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, external contractors and our team.
  • Advanced problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing successful projects.
  • Professional designation through OACETT or PEO. If not certified, a commitment to become certified within 24 months of starting will be required.
  • Demonstrated competency in Auto-Cad and Visio.
  • Technical Diploma or degree from a nationally accredited institution Renewable Energy or Energy Systems Engineering an asset and a pre-requisite for OACETT or PEO designation.
  • Demonstrated skill in building positive customer relationships.
