In Stirling, ON, a maker of custom kitchen cabinetry anticipated significant growth in their business and wanted to expand their facilities. Electricity is a major production cost in their industry and they wanted a way to hedge against the rising cost of power in Ontario. The solution was a net metered solar system with a roof top PV array.

With a net metered system, the bulk of the operation is powered by the sun and operating energy costs are stable for the life of the system (20 to 30 years). The multiple roof sections presented a challenge but current technology allowed us to maximize the roof’s potential and produce a 96 kW PV system capable of meeting the client’s needs. To facilitate the new solar component, a significant service upgrade was required: the existing delta service needed to be upgraded to a Y service. The client also took the opportunity to upgrade much of the electrical infrastructure at the same time.
